Big Basin Peak (2021)

Big Basin Peak is 11,510 feet high. The approach following the same trail that you use to get to Old Hyndman. It's around 12 to 13 miles round trip which is fairly long but the hike itself isn't too bad at all. Unfortunately my GPS batteries died a few hundred yards from the top, so I was not able to get the full trip. The way down is the same as the way up though and the trail for the most part goes most of the way. It is very similar to Old Hyndman where yo go off trail, up fairly steep for a short section and then just make your way further in and up the mountain. It was actually an interesting hike. I might actually do it again some time to get a full GPS but it's also a great and long hike with no people. There are terrific views of Hyndman, Old Hyndman, and Cobb on one side and a few other 11k peaks on the other.
